A Letter To Mrs Wright

Dear Mrs Wright,

My name is Kelly from Saint Pius X School in room 3. I would just like to say thank you for the lovely Duffy books in 2012 and all the other years I have been at school.

I know that at Saint Pius X us children have learnt a lot of new things like words from the books you have given us, so we thank you.

My favourite book was ‘Scooby Doo’ because everyday they always go on a mystery. It’s about 4 people and they're talking dog finding the bad guys.

Yours sincerely,
Kelly

The Lego Story

In the year of 1932 there was a man of the name Oli, he had a wife and four boys, he was a carpenter and his business started to struggle. Sadly his wife died and there was no money for the kids on the following christmas. He wanted to carry on the business, so they will have enough food for christmas.

Oli made new toys. He used wood and he decorated the shop a little bit more, he had to type some things out, but he wasn't very fast, so his son came to help.

A man came in to the shop and would change Oli’s life because he wanted to buy a whole lot of his toys. So Oli and his son got a large order started, but sadly they got a call from the man saying he had no money and was bankrupt and could not buy the toys.

Oli eventually bought a plastic moulding machine for making blocks. This was the start of the lego blocks as we know them today. To this day children love playing with lego blocks because of Oli.

Sportmanship

To make sports better, you should play fair instead of cheating in the game. If you are playing sports with your class on the field you must wait in the line and be patient instead of angry. Also always tell the truth to each other in the game.

To be good with your team is to don't break the rules and to be being be friendly with others who are batting don't hurt them while they are playing don't fight with your teams and other teams.

Manaiakalani Film Festival 2012

Saint Pius went to Sylvia Park for the 2012 Manaiakalani Film Festival, we got there by bus and so did the other cluster schools. All the schools in our session went inside and sat down with their class. Saint Pius was very lucky because we got to sit on the couches, I sat with Monique, Tokilupe and Samantha. The lights went down and the films started.

I was very happy because Angelica did the introduction to present the schools but mostly Saint Pius X. The films were very good, people put a lot of hard work into to them with coloured things and drawn pictures. There was a video that had games that kids our age used to play like knucklebones.

My favourite part was when we sat on the couches because they had very cool lights and my favorite film was room three’s movie ‘3 words’ because I think that we put in a lot of hard work into our 3 words.

Life Education

Today Room Three had a session with our new friend Harold and Lynn in the life education van, we have been learning about the things that are healthy for our body and what aren't. We even saw a body with no skin her name was Tam. We learnt that when you put thing that you eat in your mouth you use your, tong your saliva and your teeth. When you swallow it the food goes down your trought and into your Poko, it means tummy in Maori. Next the food goes into your small digestions, what the small digestions do is that when new food comes on it breaks the healthy parts of the food into little bits and it goes through the blood to keep us healthy. The unhealthy food goes out to some place.

Smart Learner

To be a smart learner you need to use your virtues by listening carefully, and paying attention while a person is talking because it might help you live longer because you know how to do it. What also makes you a good learner is by keeping on the right track. You also need to take responsibility for your own actions. The most important thing of all to become a good learner is to be ready for school for the next day.

Kids for Kids Concert

On a very special night, room 3 went to the Kids 4 Kids concert in Manukau Telstraclear stadium to raise money for the kids that need more food and clean water. When we got there our parents had to buy a ticket or either use the tickets that they brought weeks before. Before we went on to the stage we waited in a room that we could practise our songs in.

We went on to the stage and saw lots of our parents there waving at us while they had smiles on their faces, our first song was the Muppet show theme. The next was Happy Days, after a little more songs it was half time that means that we could have a little break to eat. Miss G gave the class something to eat which was a biscuit each and one chocolate frog. It was time to go back on stage and sing the rest of the songs that we haven’t sang.

Finally the curtain raised and there was a slideshow between the singing. When we were singing the lights were shining bright upon our faces,  we could hardly see the audience or our parents.

We got very tired during the singing, I was kind of embarrassed because I was so sleepy that I almost closed my eyes. After the concert had finished all the schools were led by the teachers that teach at the schools.

Miss G, our teacher, took us to the front doors to see where our parents were, and if we couldn’t find our parents we had to wait with her until we found them to go home.

The Musical Evening

On a exciting night the whole Saint Pius School was performing at our school for the musical evening. A few hours before at our school, our teacher Mrs G had hurt her back, so she had to go home. At the real musical Evening, miss G came to support us with  our singing, and too tell us that we are going to have a reliever tomorrow.

There was also a sausage sizzle for the year 8 camp next term, room 2 was first to lead us in prayer. After they had finished it was room 1’s turn, they did a stick dance song. Up next was the room 7 girls doing a Morai dance it was really cool.

After all the performances it was our turn. Our class was singing puppet on a string and somewhere out there, from our class the solistes were Ana and Rachel, When we finished everyone cheered and we were proud. Room 3 went and sat down to watch all the other performances. It was time to go home but our parents had to come and get us from the hall to go home.

Cross Country Day !!!

The most burning hot day on Friday was Cross Country day, but Saint Pius School didn’t start until after lunch. When it was finally Cross Country, room’s 1, 2 and 4 had to race before the seniors. While we were waiting we were cheering in the courts.

When the juniors had finished it was our turn, I was already hot because it was burning out side in the courts. Our Principal Mr Coakley raced with us and if he caught up to us we had to hold on to the rope. On the way there was lots of cars and teachers around, so we didn’t get lost.

It was time to finish off the race by running around the tennis courts once, I was so tired after I had finished. Now it was time to wait for the rest of the 10 and 9 year olds. Finally they had come back all sweaty and tired, it was time to award the certificates for the Winners.

Unfortunately the certificates weren't ready so we just went back to the class and got our bags and fruits. Our Parents came and got us from the class to go home.

Apple Description

The Granny Smith apple smells like lots of fresh and delicious apples to go right into your tummy for a little snack at morning tea. It tastes like juice from a carton when you buy it from the shops.

The Granny Smith apple tastes to me like it is sweeter then an orange that we get from school .The Granny Smith apple is as cold as ice and it feels like a rock  and the itis as green as a felt.

The Granny Smith has some seeds in it and sometimes you can swallow a couple but you might choke. It can also be used at lunchtimes and at birthday parties.

In the Olympics the athletes can also eat an apple before it is their turn to go and do the sport they are doing, like Valerie Adams, she must like Granny Smiths a lot.

The Granny Smith apple is like a really round fruit and it has a little stick on it but you're not supposed to eat that part of the Granny Smith because you can choke on it. You can use the Granny Smith by blending it and making a smoothie for  your family and your friends when they come to your house .

The Granny Smith is special because it is the same colour as the grass and the colour of the trees on the branches .

Everyone in Room 3 likes the Granny Smith.

Maths Fractions.

Me and my Maths group, Pentagon's are learning about fractions, and if you don't know what a fraction is I can show you my- self. Here is a
fraction using a pizza 1/4 so this is a fraction.
What I like about fractions is solving the problems because sometimes it can be easy.

What I already know about fractions is solving the problems because it is really easy.

What is Anointing?

In room three we are learning about Anointing.

When something happens to you and you get hurt that is when you get anointed because it means that you are getting better fast.

Welcoming means that when you are a little child you get welcomed into the Parish.

The special chrism oil is used to welcome people to God, the parish and to Heaven.

Olympic Torch

The Olympic torch is lit at every Olympics and stays lit the amount of day the Olympics is being held.`

The Olympic torch is a beautiful petal that is lit every olympics and it is really bright. The olympic torch is high in the air.

The olympic torch sounds like something is burning in the oven. The olympic torch smells like gas and burning ashes.
It feels like your hand is caught on fire it you touch it.

It is seen at the London 2012 Olympics and on T.V for the people that are not in London.

The torch shines and it doesn’t go out only when the gas is out.

The torch is taken around the world to symbolize all of the countries of the Olympics coming together.

It is special because it stands for the Olympics and it also stands for all 264 countries that are competing.

In the end of the opening Olympic ceremony the countries put all the petals together and rose them in the air to create the torch.
